Raisa
Raisa
Hello. My name is Raisa.

My favourite festival is Eid ul Fitr, which comes after Ramadan. Ramadan is the month when we Muslims fast. That means we try not to have anything to eat or drink from dawn till sunset. Grownups and older children try to do the whole month. My older sister did it last year. I did a practise fast for half a day.

When it is Eid we get up and have a shower, and put on our special new clothes and lots of bangles. Everybody dresses up in their best things. Then all the family gets together for a big breakfast with a range of different foods like samosas, pillau and other nice things.

We all go to the mosque to do our Eid prayer. We say ‘Eid mubarak’ to all our friends and family.

We go and visit friends and relatives and give them presents and cards. People give money to us children. I haven’t spent mine yet – I’ve saved it up.
