Hello. My name is Ben. I’m going to tell you about Christmas in Italy.
We eat a lot of home-made pasta, seafood and Italian Christmas specialities like pannetone, torrone, panforte, and lots of pastries. We have a Christmas tree, and we play lots of games like tombola, cards, ‘dead soldier’ and other games that everyone can join in. We have a real log fire and use it for roasting chestnuts.
Visiting Nativity Grottoes
One of the special traditions at Christmas is visiting the grottoes in churches. Each church has a special Nativity scene, not only with figures of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, but also characters from local village life like carpenters, blacksmiths, shepherds, farmers and bakers.
